Monolithic Integrated Circuits

Following the discovery of passive components and discrete semiconductor devices, was the integrated circuit (IC) which brought in another level of ground breaking advancements in the field of electronics. A monolithic integrated circuit (IC) is a complete circuit or group of circuits manufactured in a single piece of silicon. With the discovery of monolithic integrated circuits, the manufacturing of electronic components in mass volume became easy. In the early phase the ICs were made based upon TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) and later advanced to MOS ICs (Metal Oxide Semiconductor) technology.
